Panama: Canopy Tower, Pipeline Road & Canopy Lodge - March 10-16, 2025
Coming in Winter 2025: Explore Panama, one of the most biodiverse countries in the world. The link between Central America and South America, blending the ecologies and birdlife of the two regions, home to an astonishing range of flora and fauna.
This trip will have a relaxed pace, focusing on two legendary, family-owned eco-lodges: Canopy Tower and Canopy Lodge and nearby environs - all destinations are within 1.5 hours of Panama City, and day-trips are 15-20 minutes from the lodges.
Canopy Tower will bring us eye-level with rainforest canopy life - sloths, monkeys, and of course inumerable bird species in the rich lowland tropical forests of the Canal Zone. It features some of the best birding Central America has to offer! Our base of operations will be the world-famous Canopy Tower with unlimited access to their fabulous Observation Deck every morning, afternoon and evening, where you can enjoy ‘canopy birding’ at its best! We will also make excursions to some of Panama’s premier birding locations, including the world famous Pipeline Road, along with Semaphore Hill, Plantation Trail, Summit Ponds, the Panama Rainforest Discovery Center and its remarkable tower, and the Chagres River.
Canopy Lodge will bring us into the heart of the cloud forest, exploring the foothills and cloud forests of El Valle de Anton — the home of motmots, tanagers, hummingbirds, antpittas and the near-mythical Rufous-vented Ground-Cuckoo! We will enjoy accommodation at the award-winning Canopy Lodge, with exciting bird-filled trips to Cara Iguana, Rio Indio, Las Minas, and the beaches of Santa Clara — all designed to find as many of the area’s specialties as possible, while making time for relaxation as well.
