Trip Requirements & FAQs

All participants must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and show Proof of Vaccination. Tour guides and drivers will do the same.

All participants also must purchase travel insurance, including Medical and Evacuation Coverage and Covid-19 Coverage. Cancellation coverage is recommended as well, as unforeseen events can always disrupt ones travel plans!

  • What is included in this trip?

    All lodging, meals, ground transportation, park entry fees, and guides

  • What is not included in this trip?

    Your airfare to and from Costa Rica, gratuities, personal purchases.

  • What Currency is used in Costa Rica?

    Costa Rica uses Colones but US Dollars are widely accepted. Be sure to have some cash on hand for tips and personal purchases. ATMs are found at the airport and in larger towns and cities.

  • What is the Cancellation/Refund Policy?

    Cancellations are possible until 90 days prior to the trip, and later if the spot can be filled from a waiting list. Stripe credit card processing fees (7%) are non-refundable.

  • Do I need any vaccinations?

    Just your Covid vaccine! You won’t need malaria meds etc.

  • What will the climate be like?

    The climate will range from hot in the lowlands (although no worse than NYC in summer!) to chilly in the highlands at night - 90s F down to high 30s F - bring a light jacket and fleece or sweater, and a wool hat and gloves

  • What altitudes will we visit?

    We’ll cover a range of altitudes & climates, from sea level to over 10,000 feet! We will work our way up to the higher altitudes so altitude sickness shouldn’t be an issue, although some folks may experience shortness of breath or a headache. The highest we will be sleeping is about 8,500 feet.
